JollyDrivers

Frequently asked questions

What is JollyDrivers?

Booking and back-office software for small, hands-off rideshare, chauffeur and transfer operators in Australia and the drivers who work for them. It takes bookings through an AI chat, gives drivers one workspace across every operator they drive for, and raises the operator's invoices in the operator's own Xero.

How is it different from Uber or other rideshare apps?

Uber-style apps own the rider, set prices by demand and treat drivers as interchangeable. JD is the opposite. The operator sets their own fares with no surge pricing. Riders keep booking the drivers they trust. JD is not a consumer brand, and it works out no share of a fare for itself.

How is it different from taxi or limo dispatch software?

Dispatch software assumes someone sits at a console assigning jobs. JD assumes the operator wants to stay out of the way. Drivers run their own jobs, the operator watches and handles the exceptions, and the accounting happens in the operator's Xero without anyone re-typing it.

Who holds the money?

The operator. Invoices are raised in the operator's own Xero organisation and paid to the operator. JD records the payment; the money goes through the operator's own arrangements.

What does JollyDrivers charge?

Nothing at present — JollyDrivers is not charging operators a booking fee yet. From 1 January 2027 it will be a flat $3.30 including GST on each settled booking, never charged to the passenger and never rising with the fare, and free altogether when the operator's share of a booking comes to less than $30.00.

Is JollyDrivers a licensed booking entity?

No. JD is a technology platform. The operator holds the booking authorisation, for example a Queensland Booking Entity Authorisation or a NSW Booking Service Provider authorisation, and is accountable for the booking.

Can it handle more than passenger trips?

Yes. The same booking flow handles goods deliveries, including shop-and-deliver jobs where the driver buys the goods first, and attendance tasks such as walking a dog, where the job is a description rather than a route.

What if a driver works for several operators?

They get one calendar across all of them. JD warns when jobs from different operators overlap or leave too little travel time between them. Each operator only ever sees its own bookings.

How do I sign in?

With Google, or with a one-time code sent to your phone. There is no password to remember. JollyDrivers is in closed beta, so operators and drivers join by invitation — write to hello@jollydrivers.com.au.
